Senkyoro is your spot in Hakone. This long-established ryokan has been welcoming guests since 1870 and it shows. It blends time-tested service with a beautiful mountain setting, plus it’s one of the rare properties in the area where the bus stops right at the entrance. You don’t need to haul your suitcase through winding streets, just get off, check in, and relax.

Rooms here are traditional and warm. Some even come with a private open-air onsen and with a view of the mountains. You can also book the private family onsen for 45 minutes. Many couples say it’s their favorite part of the stay.

The grounds are large and walkable, filled with koi ponds, trees, and small trails.

The place is kid-friendly. That’s not common in this type of places. But here, the staff go out of their way to make children feel welcome.

Getting around Hakone is very easy from here. The bus stops directly outside. No transfers needed.

Good to know: Senkyoro sits on a historical route used by samurai and merchants traveling between Edo (now Tokyo) and Kyoto.
