Hotel Villa Schuler
Total number of rooms: 36 | Prices start from US$
More than a century of hospitality lives within the walls of Hotel Villa Schuler. Open since 1905 and still family-run after four generations, this elegant retreat holds a special distinction. It is widely considered the oldest continuously operating hotel in Sicily.
The villa sits within a terraced botanical garden in the center of Taormina. Palms, citrus trees, and Mediterranean plants surround the property, while open terraces provide wide views of the Bay of Naxos and the slopes of Mount Etna. The elevated position allows for clear panoramas across the coastline and surrounding landscape.
Despite its historic character, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming rather than formal. The property offers just 32 rooms, including several junior suites and a private Garden Villa Suite. Many rooms face the sea, while others overlook the gardens that surround the villa.
Breakfast is served à la carte, giving guests the freedom to enjoy a relaxed start before exploring the town. The Palm Terrace serves as a central gathering space with views over the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna. Additional shared areas include the Orangerie and a rooftop lounge with a terrace overlooking Taormina and the surrounding coastline. These spaces provide relaxed settings to enjoy the gardens and sea views.
Service remains highly personal, which reflects the hotel’s long family tradition. The reception and concierge operate around the clock, helping guests plan excursions, arrange transportation, or secure reservations across the region.
