Total number of rooms: 67 | Prices start from 1227.12 US$
Hotel Santa Caterina opened in 1904. Over 120 years later, guests still choose the same rooms. Here every angle captures the sea and very terrace invites you to pause. Originally a private holiday home for the Gambardella family, Santa Caterina grew slowly and deliberately into a 66-room clifftop hotel above the Amalfi Coast. The family still runs it. Four generations of the same hands steering the same ship explains why the service here feels unlike anything a corporate hotel group manages to replicate.
The building itself is an Art Nouveau villa carved directly into the cliff face above the Tyrrhenian Sea. Vietri majolica floors, hand-painted in the traditional style of the Amalfi Coast’s ceramic workshops, run through every room. Add four-poster beds, precious antique furniture, and private balconies with full sea views, and each room feels like a very beautiful private home.
Beyond the pool and restaurants, the lemon garden deserves a slow afternoon of your time. The hotel cultivates its own lemon grove — the same Sfusato Amalfitano variety that defines the coast’s famous limoncello. The spa offers a sauna, Turkish bath, massage treatments, and a sea-view fitness centre that makes the concept of skipping a workout entirely reasonable.
