Furuya Ryokan

Total number of rooms: 4 | Prices start from US$

Built in 1806, Furuya Ryokan is the oldest ryokan in Atami, and it shows its age in all the best ways. This is not just another boutique stay; it’s a well-oiled operation that’s been refining omotenashi (Japanese hospitality) for more than two centuries. It’s located just a 3-minute walk from Atami Sun Beach, and delivers comfort, history, and top-tier service.

Rooms come in traditional Japanese style: clean, minimal, and well-equipped. Each includes air conditioning, an LCD TV, ensuite bath, and tea area. Some suites offer private hot spring baths sourced directly from the natural spring, no recycled water here. That’s the highlight.

The public onsen baths are beautifully maintained and open to guests only. Expect clean facilities, plenty of space, and hot spring water straight from the source. Massages are also available if you’re after deeper relaxation.

Dinner and breakfast are served in your room. Kaiseki meals feature seasonal ingredients and multiple courses, thoughtfully presented by your personal host.

Good to know: The hot spring water at Furuya comes from their private source and flows 100% directly into the baths, no mixing or filtering.
