Fukuzumiro is a journey back in time, wrapped in warm hospitality and the sound of a river. Built in 1890, this historic ryokan has hosted writers, artists, and travelers seeking true immersion. Tucked into a forested curve of the Hayakawa River, this boutique-style inn, balances elegance with deep tradition.

The rooms are timeless. Tatami floors, futon beds, and soft light create a calm, lived-in beauty. Choose one with river views, and you’ll wake to the gentle sound of water below. Bathrooms are shared, but don’t let that deter you. The real highlight is the natural hot spring baths, both public and private, they are tucked like little secrets around the property.

The food is unforgettable. Each meal is a multi-course affair of seasonal local dishes. There’s also a small bar on site, Bar Kikyo, where you can enjoy a peaceful drink.

Our favorite part, was the historic charm. This place was literally built over 130 years ago, every beam and stone tells a story.

Good to know: Book the private onsen ahead of time at check-in, they fill up fast.
